These exhibits also have what Kia calls the world's first in-vehicle 5G connection and facial recognition tech that will disable many features of a auto if it doesn't recognize a driver.

The Niro EV is said to have a range of 238 miles, which, on paper, falls shy of the Tesla Model X's 295-mile range.

As part of this strategy, Kia is exhibiting the Niro EV Concept at this week's CES event. Designers also installed new headlights, a sportier front bumper, and a redesigned rear end with "clean and sharp trailing edges allowing air to flow more easily off the back of the auto".

The exterior changes from the regular Niro and Niro Hybrid include the grille replaced by an interactive display panel (its says "Helle CES" on the CES car), new headlights, a tweaked bumper at the front an a redesigned back end for improved air flow.

The nod to urban usage may be a hint that Kia still expects to launch a hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle for long-distance zero-emission travel; its sibling unveiled the production version of its 2019 Hyundai Nexo an hour before the Kia made its debut. To counteract its quietness, speakers sound an alert to passengers who are crossing in front of the vehicle, while lights provide an additional warning. Although, even without the LED badging at the rear, the all-electric concept vehicle's styling cues are consistent with the Niro's design language - from the shape of the rear hatch to the distinct front fenders. Created by the company's design studio in Korea, the Niro EV Concept is a fully electric SUV with a next-generation powertrain using new production technologies earmarked for near-future EVs from Kia.

The better-than-expected pace of net hiring past year allowed for more tightening in the labor market than anticipated. Payroll growth averaged 171,000 per month previous year , down slightly from 187,000 in 2016.

The manufacturer already has one of the largest plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles presences of any manufacturer, and is looking to further this with the announcement of 16 new electric vehicles by 2025.

This Niro packs a 150kW (201bhp) electric motor powered by a 64 kWh lithium-polymer battery pack. We wouldn't be surprised to see a Niro EV make it to production with at least some of the cool new tech displayed at CES. The interior, meanwhile, is envisioned with "greater user interaction with new technologies and features".

The vehicle also features an Active Pedestrian Warning System (APWS) that relies on front-view cameras, object recognition and front speakers.

In Level 4 autonomous vehicles, there is very high level of automation enabling a auto to operate without human input or control under select conditions of pre-defined areas or roads.

"Virtual reality, self-driving cars and full vehicle connectivity were all once considered technologies of the distant future".
