Hardy added: "I just wanted to say that I give you my word of honor that I'm going to do everything that I can to deliver the best Venom that I possibly can muster". The image itself is relatively tame; Tom Hardy, who's set to play Eddie Brock, is not all decked out in his gooey black Venom suit.

Before he was bastardized along with everything else in Spider-Man 3, Venom was a pretty cool Marvel character - and Tom Hardy wants to bring that guy back with his new Venom film.

If that's the case, then Phage, Agony, Scream, Riot and Lasher - the Venom clones from that story-arc - could also be making an appearance.

Looks like this version of Eddie Brock cannot only read but write as well!

Earlier rumours for the Venom film indicated that it would be taking inspiration from the "Lethal Protector" story-arc, a comic where the Symbiote took on a more anti-heroic style and fought against the villainous "Life Foundation".

The women who opened up to LA Times about the actor's behavior expressed their disappointment at his Golden Globe accolade. Another woman, Sarah Tither-Kaplan, accused " The Disaster Artist " actor of exploiting her in a film she made for him.

As IGN notes, "Venom: Lethal Protector" is a six-episode limited series that turned Venom into a Marvel Comics anti-hero following years as Spider-Man's villain. It also featured the Life Foundation.

The second entry in Brock's notebook reads: "What about the allegations your empire is built on?". While the Life Foundation isn't responsible for turning Eddie Brock into Venom in the comic books, they do capture Venom and extract five additional "symbiotes" from him.

Although not all of those details are likely to end up in Venom, the notebook suggests the film's version of the Life Foundation is at the very least involved in unethical, if not illegal, testing, perhaps in bid to create additional symbiotes, or alien/human hybrids.

The movie is set to hit theaters on October 5, 2018.
