Xiaomi starts selling Redmi 5A in Egypt

The company has sent out media invites for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 launch event scheduled for February 14. The Redmi Note 5 was not announced thus far, and if rumors are to be believed, it will not exactly be a whole new smartphone. Honor 9 Lite smartphone is recently launched in India and the biggest highlight of the phone is the quad camera on the phone.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 was one of the most successful mid-range smartphones past year, at least in India.

3 GB RAM is found in Smartron tphone P, while 3 GB RAM and 2 GB RAM are the variants found in Xiaomi Redmi 5A.

Redmi 5 Plus is available for purchase in China: 3GB variant for 999 Yuan or $155 and 4GB variant for 1,299 Yuan or $200. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor and runs the Android 7.0 OS. It will be backed up by a 4,100mAh battery along with Quick Charge 4.0 support.

The Redmi series of smartphones have always featured 5-inch display whereas the Redmi Note lineup have featured 5.5-inch screen. This phone will be the successor to Redmi 4, and the phone is said to fall in Rs 10,000 category.

This is the first major product launch from Xiaomi this year. In China, the Redmi 5 is available in three variants; one with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, and 4GB RAM and 32GB storage. The Redmi 5 Plus has a Snapdragon 625 SoC and 3GB/4GB RAM with 32GB/64GB storage respectively.

While the Indian prices are not known yet, we expect the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus to launch around these prices in India as well. To the front will be a 8MP camera. Redmi 5 Plus leads in the main specs, but the dual rear cameras with portrait mode feature and the 8 MP front shooter of Honor 7X may seem more attractive to some. The smartphone includes connectivity options like WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and 4G LTE with VoLTE. There were speculations suggesting that the Redmi 5 Plus will indeed be launched as the Redmi Note 5 in the worldwide markets.
