James, the public health major who will be a senior this fall, plans to use her scholarship to help her cover tuition fees next year, take care of some loans as well as to treat her mother.

Due to her background, James received a call over the weekend from University of Miami's Assistant Vice President of University Advancement Darlene Rebello-Rao about being featured in a video for a scholarship donor luncheon.

"Drake told me that he has read great things about me and appreciates how hard I've worked through so many trials and made a decision to give me $50K for my tuition". "I applied to scholarships a year ago for which I had to write an essay".

Drake made a surprise visit to Miami Senior High School on Monday, where the Grammy Award-winning rapper shot his latest video to the song "God's Plan" and presented the school with a $25,000 check, according to the Miami Herald.

After meeting James, Drake went on to donate $25,000 to Miami Senior High School. He also gave students clothing items from his OVO brand. "@champagnepapi THANK YOU SO MUCH!' You don't understand what this means to me", James wrote in an Instagram post.
