Meet Lucas! The First Gerber Spokesbaby with Down Syndrome

Out of 140,000 entries, Lucas was chosen to be the 2018 Gerber Spokesbaby.

"By choosing Lucas, I believe the message is that babies with Down syndrome are no different from typical babies and can be seen as adorably ideal", said Whitten, the mother of a 14-year-old daughter with Down syndrome.

"He's very outgoing and never meets a stranger", mom Courtney Warren told "Today". Seeing the acceptance and love for those with DS grow from where it was 32 years ago makes my heart so incredibly happy!

As the new Gerber grand prize victor, Lucas will be named the 2018 Gerber Spokesbaby and his family will receive $50,000, which his parents are going to put toward his education.

Just TRY not to smile when looking at Lucas Warren, 18 months.

Other parents, especially those who have children with Down syndrome, celebrated.

Chelsea unrecognisable in "abysmal" Watford defeat - Gary Cahill
Chelsea FC now find themselves in fourth place in the Premier League table after their 4-1 loss to Watford on Monday night. Much of the Italian's anger this season stems from the fact that he has little influence over the club's transfer policy.

In a puddle of tears over here.

Gerber's 2018 spokesbaby will be making history in a wonderful way. "It is such a lovely, good day", wrote samanthajob on Instagram. "They're people first, and their diagnosis is just something they have".

When it comes to baby food, the brand that probably springs to mind first is Gerber - even if you don't feed it to your kids. "He may have Down syndrome, but he's always Lucas first", said Cortney.

"I think this is a huge sign, a neon sign of don't be afraid it's all flawless and it's something to be proud of and that you were chosen".

The Gerber spokesbaby's mother, Cortney, hopes the world will see him as a fun and loving baby named Lucas, rather than a baby with Down Syndrome. "He's got an awesome personality and he goes through the milestones of every child".
