The All-India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) on Sunday informed that it had chose to remove Maulana Salman Hasni Nadvi from the board.

This is ironical as throughout the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government's tenure (1998-2004), the board had itself tried to find a negotiated settlement of the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi dispute.

"While taking a contradictory position, Salman Nadvi also said he does not want to remain associated with the board".

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar tweeted, saying, "Maulana Salman Husaini Nadwi's expulsion from the AIMPLB comes as a surprise, as several members of the board have met with me & expressed their commitment to foster amity amongst Hindus & Muslims & to peacefully resolve this issue".

On first day of three-day plenary, the Board issued a statement clarifying that there was no change in stand of the Board vis a vis Babri Masjid.

The working committee of the AIMPLB had met yesterday evening.

The board alleged that deliberate attempts are being made to sow the seeds of dissension and discord among Muslims by bringing to the fore such problems and issues which can create rift among various sections of the society and schools of thoughts. Salman Nadvi is still speaking against the Board stand.
