"I love the golf course, I love the layout, it fits my eye - and I play bad", Woods said Tuesday as he prepared to tee it up in the Genesis Open starting Thursday on the classic course nestled in the hills of Pacific Palisades, west of downtown Los Angeles.

Twice a Canadian has won this event and it was Mike Weir both times, in 2003 & '04. Streelman is an elite ball striker (19 in SG: Tee to Green) that tends to go as far as his below average putter takes him.

The pair flew out to Los Angeles together and Woods said: "He asked me when did I play in this tournament as an amateur".

"I got a little frustrated that I didn't win because I felt like I should have", said the generally laid back Johnson.

"I'm trying to win a tournament (and) I'm sure they feel the same way but hey it's winning time". But to shoot 3-under par for the tournament based on his errant driving was a testament to how good Woods' short game was that week.

The 42-year-old is also wary about pushing the limit and risking a recurrence of his injury and has revealed that he will trim his schedule owing to his lack of competitive action in the last 18 months. There's also a history of golfers winning this event multiple times within one another.

Back up the price grid and Brendan Steele at 50s is a decent price in his home State and on greens he grew up on and I really like Alex Noren on this course which is ideal for his left-to-right ball flight but we've really ducked him at 35s. "They pick my brain".

"I think in Chicago one year we were a little off the pace".

Allardyce admits Everton get homesick
However, despite the spending sprees, Everton are now 9th in the league, just 9 points adrift of the relegation zone. We never looked in any real trouble throughout.

He also acknowledged last week that Riviera is "a flawless course" for those that are striking it well.

Since his back is not an issue at this point and he's able to swing harder than he has in several years, Woods said part of solving his problems off the tee is tweaking his driver just a bit. The more tournaments I play in, the more I'll be able to get a better understanding of that.

"He's off to a great start this year".

He was self-effacing, too, when playing partner Thomas was mentioned.

It was two years ago, when he got off to a slow start his second year on tour, that he cashed in on an offer from Jack Nicklaus to call if he ever needed anything. "I'm not used to walking".

DJ boasts sensational course form of 1-4-2-2 and he has two other top fives at Riviera but he's idled when hitting the front at two of his last four events (Pebble last week and the WGC-HSBC) and has paid the price. We haven't played, unfortunately, as much as we would like.

Woods said he thought 20-something players like Thomas are starting to see him as a competitor thanks to his two solid outings in the unofficial Hero World Challenge and at Torrey Pines.

"I don't know", he said, "if Tiger is holding back some stuff with me".
