Captain Virat Kohli and veteran wicketkeeper M S Dhoni have been rested from the Indan team for next month's tri-nation Twenty20 worldwide series in Sri Lanka.

MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya will both also be rested while the pace duo of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah that tormented South Africa will also get to put their feet up for a spell.

"MS Dhoni was not available for selection as he had requested for rest", he added.The three teams will play two matches against each other and top two teams will go for the finals on March 18.

Talking about the team, selection committee chairman MSK Prasad said "We've kept in mind the workload and upcoming schedule while finalising the team for Nidahas Trophy". Bangladesh will be the third team in the competition. India will go on the tour with Dinesh Karthik as the primary wicketkeeper option.

Rohit Sharma has been named captain in a squad of 15 announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) via a communique. Dhawan will be Rohit's deputy.

As India's victorious journey in South Africa came to an end, the team is ready for smashing runs at the forthcoming Twenty20 global tournament "Nidahas Trophy" in Sri Lanka under the captaincy of "Hitman" Rohit Sharma.
