MWC 2018: Nokia unveils five phones, iconic Nokia 8110 makes a comeback

Set up by ex-Nokia executives who have licensed the famous brand, HMD Global - as the year-old company is known - has focused on mid-priced Androids and even sub-$100-priced phones since entering the smartphone market.

There's no Google Play store here so you can't just download all the apps you'd normally use on your Android smartphone but the 8110 does have an app store in the Smart Feature OS which includes the likes of Facebook, Twitter, Google Maps and Google Assistant.

It may be mentioned that Android 8.0 Oreo update comes with several new features, including new notifications, picture-in-picture mode, new emojis, faster boot, improved battery and enhanced camera besides fixing bugs. "Think of us as distant cousins, not siblings nor children", stated the KaiOS website.

It's easy to forget that Nokia was once one of the biggest phone companies in the world.

Nokia has two target audiences in mind for the Nokia 8110, based on the tremendous response it received for the Nokia 3310.

All four phones are pure Android and ship with Android Oreo out of the box.

Persecution of Rohingyas clearly 'genocide', says Nobel laureates after visiting camps

Following the Nokia 3310, this is the second "retro classic reloaded" and although it's been 22 years, the Nokia 8110 is back.

The Nokia 8110 4G will be available from May 2018 at a recommended retail price of €79.

According to T3, the new Nokia 8810 features VoLTE calling and an easy to use interface. Hopefully, that means we can expect a lower price point, but HMD Global might be hoping that people will fall in love with this phone's design.

HMD also announced three other smartphones Sunday, each running on the Android platform. In addition to an enhanced dual-sight, the Nokia 8 Sirocco features ZEISS optics coupled with an advanced Nokia spatial audio acoustic speaker system. It also comes with a revamped Snake game. The Nokia 8110 is powered by a dual-core Qualcomm 205 chipset running at 1.1 GHz, has 512MB of RAM and 4GB of built-in storage that's shared between the OS and the user-installed apps.

As a reminder, the Nokia 7 Plus features a 6-inch IPS Full HD+ display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. Nokia 8 sirocco comes with 128 GB of internal memory which can be expanded by a MicroSD card. This battery is claimed to render up to 9 hours of talk time and up to 15 days of standby time.
