Clinton police officer Christopher Ryan Morton, 30, was shot as he and two other officers responded to reports of a woman screaming, at home in Clinton.

The Missouri Highway Patrol confirmed to KMBC 9 News three Clinton Police Department officers were shot before 10 p.m. Tuesday evening in Clinton, Missouri, and one of those officers has died.

One of the two other officers shot was described by the Patrol as having suffered moderate injuries.

Collin Stosberg said the officers went to the home in Clinton on Tuesday night in response to a 911 call in which no one was on the line but a disturbance could be heard in the background.

A Missouri Highway Patrol SWAT team entered the house at 12:10 a.m. and the suspect was found dead, the Star reported.

In the shooting death of Gary Michael, the suspect Ian McCarthy was charged with first-degree murder.

The two women heard in the 911 call were unharmed, Lowe stated.

This is the second Clinton Police Department officer killed in less than a year.

Others at Michigan State said that his message was repulsive and that there was never demand at Michigan State to hear him. Spencer said at least 150 tickets for the event were handed out, but less than 50 people attended the meeting.

He was a veteran of the Army National Guard and is survived by his parents and siblings.

Morton's death comes after police officer Gary Michael was fatally shot in Missouri on August 6, 2017. Clinton Police officers responded.

In our era, the people who walk our streets and defend the defenseless are given an honored name: they are called police officers. Numerous agencies assisted including Clinton PD, Henry County Sheriff's Office and the Johnson County Sheriff's Office.

"The Clinton Police Department is a well respected police department", said Sgt. Lowe. "They're going to endure more", Sgt. Lowe said.

"It's just another tragic event for this community and especially this police department". But the man continued shooting, wounding all the officers.
