Walmart Inc. (NYSE:WMT), Launches Its Meal Kit Production Line

Although most retailers offer prepared meals at their stores, Walmart's late coming to this market could further aggravate the slow growth many restaurant chains have experienced in the last two years (2015-2017).

Walmart's first exposure was in offering meal kits from third-party companies - California-based Takeout Kit and Chicago-based Home Chef - on its website beginning late previous year. They'll be available in over 2,000 stores by the end of 2018, and you'll have the option of grabbing them through the company's Online Grocery Pickup service.

The Walmart Neighborhood Market at 4720 E. 21st one of 250 locations across the country to offer the meal kits via online grocery pickup.

The meal kits feed two people and range in price from $8 to $15. The pre-portioned line includes Steak Dijon, Basil Garlic Chicken, Sweet Chili Chicken Stir Fry and Pork Florentine. Options include pre-portioned cooking kits, kits to accompany Walmart rotisserie chicken and kits that may be heated up and served in less than 15 minutes. Thai curry chicken and chicken fried rice can be made with the rotisserie chicken.

Toyota Is Killing Off Diesel-Powered Passenger Cars In Europe
Toyota will continue to offer diesel engines in commercial vehicles ( Hilux , Proace and Land Cruiser) to meet customer needs. In the UK, Toyota sold 101,692 units past year , of which hybrids made up 45,803 units - equating to 45%, similar to Europe.

The one-step heat-and-eat meal kits come in 10 varieties: chicken alfredo, cheesy ravioli bake, meatloaf, spaghetti and meatballs, chicken Parmesan, pulled beef, chicken marsala, curry chicken, pot roast and chicken enchiladas. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up almost 17% for the past year. Those items will remain, according to Lehr.

Walmart, the biggest grocer in the United States, is expanding its meal-kit business. Walmart shares are down 0.4% in premarket trading, but up 26.8% for the past year.

"This is mostly a "me too" move to keep up with other retailers", Livingston said in an email. "So these are products we're very comfortable with".
