Get the Windows Phone/Windows 8 experience on your iPhone

We've seen plenty of applications and skins on Android and iOS devices trying to emulate the Windows Phone metro experience. Some have been half-decent, others half-baked. Metroon, a Dreamboard theme for jailbroken iOS devices comes close to bringing a near-perfect replica of the Windows 8/Windows phone interface.
The Verge's Tom Warren gives us a full hands-on display of the theme (above). It is a somewhat combination of the Windows Phone and Windows 8 interfaces. The theme has a Windows Phone-like lock screen complete with notifications, volume controls, swipe up to unlock and media player controls. The start screen is similar to that of Windows 8 and all iOS apps can be pinned to the Metroon Start Screen. Though a gallant attempt, the theme occasionally finds its way to the iPhone launcher, which of course isn't ideal when you are trying to get the full metro experience. Tom sums it up perfectly:

Overall, Metroon's attention to detail is impressive and it's a great companion to the Track 8 Metro style music player for iOS, but the combination of a mixed mode of Metro and the default iOS notifications makes it confusing at times. It's a fun way to experience Microsoft's Windows 8 interface on an iPhone, but I wouldn't recommend it for daily use.
