Microsoft and Nokia holding a joint press event in US on 5th of September

We all assumed the 5th of September was going to be the day Nokia unveled it's Windows Phone 8 device line-up on the opening day of Nokia World 2012, just like they did last year when they unveiled the Nokia Lumia 700 and the Lumia 800. Nothing is to say that is not going to happen still but it's rather confusing that Microsoft and Nokia are holding a joint press event in US on the 5th September, according to Engadget.

Engadget reports that they just received an invite from Nokia and Microsoft to attend a "Windows Phone-centric" event on September 5th. The invites are said to come with a large reference to Nokia Maps. We suspect that this may be a press event to introduce the new Maps for Windows Phone, powered by Nokia. At present, Nokia Maps is exclusive to Nokia Lumia devices. Microsoft announced in June's Developer Summit that Nokia Maps will be available to all Windows Phone 8 devices. We also suspect Microsoft finally going detail all Windows Phone 8 features.

Less than 3 weeks to go but we can't wait!
